The Secret of the Field Bet
How about the secret of the field bet in craps?
As you might know, the field bet is a one roll bet that you can make, in addition to the pass line bet, in craps. The field bet is aone roll bet, so you must roll the dice again in order to make the correct bet. The field bet is usually placed in the center of the craps table, often called the “donut” or “friendly” area. The donut takes half of the bets that were made on the Pass Line and the donut puts those bets into a collective pot that’s called the field. The most valuable piece of real estate in the game of craps is the portable, stick-on table that sits in front of the shooter. (The dice usually stick to it when the dice are inside the wheel.)
To tell you the truth, we don’t know whether to put the donut bet or not. Yes, we know the casino wants you to make the donut bet, but there’s no indication in the game itself whether the donut bet is a good idea or not. (One convincing argument could be that if you put the donut bet in the center of the table, the donut bet would be less prone to flopping by the time you roll near the end.) We’ve heard that if the donut bet were to be located in the center of the table, the donut bet would have a better chance of survival. Keep in mind that this is only a theory – not a guarantee that your donut bet will be helpful to you at the end of your roll.
