A Quick Guide Every NFL Team Should Know Before They Are Drafted
The draft is a week away now and with the buzz around the league, long time sports handicappers are once again busy with their extensive NFL research. There are many angles that aren’t shown to the public including agent circles, coaching and player personnel. Every NFL team must deal with this dilemma.
Where There Is
Some teams who are powerhouses in the League like the Steelers and Patriots are widely known. The teams that are perceived the weakest in the League like the Ravens, Bills, Cardinals and Jets are not heard from much. These teams spent the off season analyzing what went wrong and are working hard in the free time they have left to accomplish their tasks. Player personnel is an area where some teams may excel and some may struggle in the 2007 NFL season.
Agent circles
It is no secret that agent circles have become the hot seat in free agency. NFL teams are being linked to high profile agent’s like Drew Rosenhaus and Terrell Owens. These agent’s link up with current coaches and asking them to be the face of the franchise and by extension the League. It is a personalities job, but it is an important one for a dewapoker team. Coaches are wary of these types of moves and more often then not, their interests are not being served by doing so.

player personnel matters
The Morris Twins were linebackers in the NFL for over 20 years and played for 3 teams. After coaching the Vikings for a few years, one of his interests was coaching the defensive line. He has been publicized as being a possible candidate. The weakness of many NFL defenses is a lack of quality depth at the linebacker position, especially at the point where the quarterback is concerned. The Twin’s strength was having a deep offensive line, which allowed him to move people around and had a solid run front. The young Ravens sacks will be thinned by the loss of Ray Hunt to the AFC.
It won’t be much longer before we know if McNair will still be around or not. This much I do know, no one is quitting the Ravens.
What concern is there for the Ravens?
McNair absolutely could still be on the trading block and there are still 3 teams that have shown interest in him. The Browns and Texans are the ones that have seemed to have the wheels set in place to trade him while the Dolphins and the Jets have both interviewed him.
If the Dolphins could acquire him, they would have to give up a lot to get him. But with Bill Parcells not being around much longer, the fact that the Dolphins have an uneven team and losing ace QB Steve McNair for a year makes it unlikely that they will be able to pull the trigger.
The Jets and Giants have both looked interested in trading for McNair as well but with their OL’s and receiving corps not getting better and their defensesWeak, it is hard for them to envision a scenario where they could replace the ineffective offense.
The Browns probably will not be able to aside from trading for a QB. McNair would give them an element of starting QB depth with the ability to scramble. That’s a valuable commodity in a QB overshadowed by the collective blindside of the AFC East division.
